G.co Will Soon Be a Household Name

With all the mobile devices accessing the internet through their fabulously cumbersome keyboards, shortened URLs are a godsend for many.

Google is totally on board with this process and has purchased G.co to prove it. This will be their new shortened URL shortcut to Google services.

It is not linked to anything other than an announcement page at the time of this bookmark writing, but we should expect to see more in the near future.

It is genius to run with G.co because it shortens on both sides of the dot in a very natural way. I wonder if we will see some other shortcuts like:

• G.co/br [blogger?]
• G.co/t [tasks?]

You can see how this could make mobile mapping of Google's main services fairly quick! Exciting!
