Top 5 Reasons You Should Use The Amazon Appstore For Android

Recently, I have set several people up with their new Android phones as I am the defacto tech guru in my family. While getting people set up with their new phone, the best apps, and trying tirelessly to teach them the basics of using their new smartphone, I've discovered that many people have a bit of an aversion to trying the new Amazon Appstore.

The reasons why they did not want me to install the Amazon Appstore usually involved the issue of credit card privacy and a general "why do I need that?" sort of feeling.

Therefore, I want to share five killer reasons why you should try, use, and love the Amazon Appstore for Android. Buckle in!

1. You Can Get One Paid App for Free Everyday - No Strings Attached

You heard right! You will get access to one Amazon chosen paid app offered for free every single day. I have yet to see a repeat. If that trend continues, you could "collect" 365 paid apps for free every year. If we assume at least $1 an app, that means that you get at least $365 worth of paid apps for free without any strings attached.

The apps offered are occasionally crap, but most are actually pretty awesome. For example, the games that debuted exclusively on the Amazon Appstore like Plants versus Zombies and more recently, Peggle, were offered as free apps on the release day. Other recent free paid apps were Watchdog Task Manager Pro, Superbox Pro, Jenga, and Executive Assistant +.

So get in there, download the Amazon Appstore application (from Amazon's website), and get your hundreds of dollars worth of apps just because you can!

2. You Have Excellent Visual Tutorials on How To Get Started

The Amazon Appstore has clearly tried to remove the barriers of getting started using their product for just about anyone.

If you check out their Get Started section, you will find a great video walkthrough as well as screenshots and easy to understand instructions on how to get to the Amazon Appstore and how to install it to your device.

3. You Can Test Drive Many Apps and Games In Your Browser

Check out the video to see this feature in action! It is true, you can actually use a virtual Android device in your browser.

This makes trials and unnessary downloads irrelevant, as you can experience it right there while you are in the store.

4. You Have a Dedicated Deals Section Refreshed Weekly

If you have shopped at Amazon for anything ever, you are probably very familiar with their emphasis on deals.

There is the Gold Box and the Lighting Deals, and I was very excited to see that not only does the Amazon Appstore give away a free paid app every day, but they also have a deticated deal section refreshed weekly that discounts paid apps.

There are three major sections in the deals area:

1. "The Big Deal" - where some big priced item is slashed in half for a week.

2. "Great Deals on Preimum Apps"

3. "Great Deals on Premium Games"

On the Android Market, the developers of the apps set the price. On the Amazon Appstore, Amazon has more control over what to sell an app for at any given time.

This means more savings for us on the buyer end because Amazon has a birdseye view of how all the apps are doing, and if there is one thing Amazon kills at, it is selling stuff and moving product.

5. You Have The Advantage of High Quality Curated Apps

As I said before, Amazon is an expert at moving products whether they are physical or digital. Amazon does not have the thousands and thousands of apps that the Android Market has, but it also does not sell crap apps, spam apps, and so on.

The price of entry for developers is much higher than it is to sell on the Android Market, which leads to better quality overall.
